On August 12, 2009, Trinidadian-born Soca artist Mista Vybe, launched MistaVybeWorld.com. The first of its kind within the Soca industry, MistaVybeWorld.com is an interactive combination of Mista Vybe’s artistic developments and personal views, portraying all of the many elements which collectively define Mista Vybe and even going beyond his music and into the technological realm. Being a “2.0” artist sets Mista Vybe apart from his counterparts and places him alongside the likes of Ryan Leslie, Jermaine Dupri, and Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, who are all “2.0” elites, incorporating Blogging, Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, YouTube and Vimeo as a regular routine in their everyday life in order to connect with their fanbase.
“I've been blessed to be part of a lot of groundbreaking projects in my life and my career so far, so I know what it feels like when you're on to something really special and revolutionary. MistaVybeWorld.com has given me that amazing feeling of doing something that's going to change the game from the beginning and it's so great to see people really embracing it, as they now see what my Team and I saw from Day One when we started working on this”, Mista Vybe explains.
Although revolutionizing Soca Music (and the Caribbean entertainment industry at large) will not happen overnight, Mista Vybe has already made great strides on the road to that goal, and, in the process, he has set lofty standards for those following behind. A perfect example of his voracity for revolutionary endeavours is his groundbreaking, self-produced online “TV show”, aptly titled “2 D World!”
The entire concept of “2 D World!” is one which has never been done or seen on this level within the Soca/Caribbean community. The series stars Mista Vybe and his manager Joanne Marcano, and showcases both onstage and behind-the-scenes moments surrounding Mista Vybe’s life and career.
“I'm so happy about the power MistaVybeWorld.com gives me to do all the crazy things that have been spinning around in my head for the longest while,” Mista Vybe reflects, adding: “A perfect example of that is my new online reality show, "2 D World!” which we shot the first season for in Germany.”
One of the reasons that MistaVybeWorld.com manages to consistently push the envelope is that the entire Team behind the site consists of four remarkable individuals (Management, Web Design, Video Production and Media Relations respectively) who all reside in Toronto, Canada. All four have worked for Major Record Labels in Toronto as well as various International Corporations, and are amalgamating their skills to demonstrate the many avenues Caribbean artistes have to release music and gain global exposure by using the latest technological advances hand-in-hand with boundless creativity.
MistaVybeWorld.com has already received kudos from many high-profile Caribbean bloggers such as Nurse Karen from Toronto and The Great Zeee from New York, in addition to being supported heavily by the Swedish-based SocaRevolution.com blog, and the Japanese “Soca Diary” blog (cocotea.seesaa.net).
Responding to the massive support this project has already garnered, Mista Vybe muses: “The site has grown by leaps and bounds and every day I'm amazed at how far and wide the reach of it is and the amazing positive feedback I get about it.
